NLLN's Partnership with PCA
At Positive Coaching Alliance, you will hear them mention the phrase, Honor the Game. Encouraging everyone involved to Honor the Game will raise the standards for appropriate behavior and will hopefully eliminate negativity that doesn't belong in sports. Almost everyone has heard stories of parents yelling, kids acting inappropriately or coaches disagreeing with the officials. This behavior takes away from the bigger picture of playing sports. When those involved show they respect all aspects of the game, they are raising their experience beyond a win or a loss, and learning important life lessons that can turn them into better people.
Learning and appreciating the value of respect will positively impact a young person’s life. It’s not only an important skill to have for a successful life, but it will lead to a more positive experience for all the players, coaches, parents, officials and fans involved with your school or youth sports organization.
PCA's Mission Statement
"Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) is a national nonprofit organization committed to providing all youth and high school athletes a positive, character-building youth sports experience."
Parent Resources from PCA and Little League Baseball
We encourage all NLLN families to visit the PCA website and explore the tools offered at http://positivecoach.org/. The NLLN Board believes in the principals reflected in the PCA materials, and we hope that you will take advantage of the resources that have been made available. The PCA programs were developed with the sole objective of providing your children with the best experience possible.
We request that all NLLN parents take the on-line course that was developed by PCA specifically for Little League parents at http://www.littleleague.org/pca.htm. The course is free and provides a snapshot of what NLLN, Little League Baseball and PCA expect from parents.
In addition, you might enjoy the following video of Bruce Bochy, Manager of the Three Time World Series Champion San Francisco Giants, speaking about PCA principles at http://mypca.me/1yizzHa.
